4 takeaways from the Boston Celtics 128-75 rout of the Sacramento Kings

The Boston Celtics jumped out to a 33-7 run to start the game and never looked back in a 128-75 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday night.

4 takeaways from the Boston Celtics win vs. the Sacramento Kings

1. Nothing to see here

The Celtics did what they should do to teams that are not as good as they are - be aggressive on offense and give energy and effort on defense at home against a lesser team. A 38-13 first quarter and a 63-30 halftime lead show the ability that this team has when everyone is on the same page.

2. Tatum and Brown led the way (as they should)

Celtics fans around the world and opponents in the league know and understand just how good Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are, and tonight showed that. Tatum went for 36 points on 14-of-23 shooting (7-for-14 from beyond the arc) along with four rebounds and six assists in just 31 minutes of work. He did work inside a little more in this game and it was good to see that.

Brown was just as efficient, scoring 30 points on 11-of-19 from the field, including 5-of-12 from three-point range. He added 10 boards and three assists to his stat line, too. This team goes as these two go, and it would like to see games like this more often.

3. Robert Williams is growing by leaps and bounds

I get it - this was the lowly Sacramento Kings. Williams still put up (as he has done with consistency all season) 13 points, 17 rebounds, four assists, three steals, and two blocked shots in just 27 minutes of floor time. He is becoming a good facilitator for the offense in the high post and is a monster on the boards on both ends of the floor. He is clearly rewarding the front office for the new deal signed in the off-season. The sky is definitely the limit with Time Lord.

4. Can this team find its chemistry before it’s too late?

After tonight’s victory, the Celtics are 25-24 and currently sit at ninth in the Eastern Conference. The good news is that, as much as this team has struggled to be consistent, they are only four games out of the sixth seed, and six games behind the Miami Heat for the top spot in the conference.

A nice run over the next two weeks would certainly help them climb up the ladder as the teams are so close together in the standings. Winning the games that they are supposed to win can make a huge difference come April.

Boston is back in action on Friday as the Celtics head to Atlanta to battle Trey Young and the Hawks. The game is set to tip-off at 7:00 p.m.
