Board Games Grant

Grant Williams just might be the most intriguing guy in the NBA. There’s just always something to be said about him, and yet also nothing at all to be said. I don’t really know how to describe it. I think since he’s on such a good team and plays such a limited role he doesn’t get the attention he deserves. In reality, he has one of the highest basketball IQs in his rookie class, and is ready to contribute to a contending team.

On the court, Grant Williams can be found setting hard screens and playing lockdown post defense at only 6’ 6”. He reminds me of Draymond Green in the sense that he’s just an undersized big man who plays good defense and can hit the outside shot when necessary. This article isn’t just to praise Grant Williams’ on-court talent, though, it’s to recognize what a funny dude he is.

You don’t see names like Grant in the papers much, but he was just recently. Over the recent quarantine, Grant ended up living with Celtics point guard Kemba Walker. An interesting pair when you think about it. Williams is a young dude fresh out of college who always seems like he has boatloads of energy. Meanwhile, Kemba Walker is a veteran in the NBA who just reached the age of 30. I’m not saying Kemba’s not a fun dude, it’s just a very different lifestyle than the one Grant must be accustomed to. I mean, that being said, I feel like their personalities seem swapped at times. Grant Williams, the young kid, couldn’t convince Kemba Walker, the vet, to play board games with him over quarantine. Who sounds like the old-head in that situation?

I don’t really know the point of this article, I just thought the quote about the board games was interesting. I also am just generally intrigued by the persona that is Grant Williams. He seems like a very unique type of person, let alone player. It’s almost like he has all the fun and goofy aspects of a kid, and yet the wisdom and personality of a really mature adult. I don’t get it.

The one thing I do know, however, is that I would love to have Grant Williams on the From the Rafters podcast. That would be one of the funniest episodes ever.
