The Celtics lost another heartbreaker last night, falling to the Pelicans 115-109. They kept it close in the first half, only for things to start going downhill halfway through the third. A late-game comeback gave Celtics fans hope, but in the end, it just wasn’t enough. Jayson Tatum had a clutch shot in the last two minutes to go along with his 34 points.

Tatum started the game on fire, scoring 16 of his 34 in the first quarter alone. He shot 6-9 from the field and 3-5 from deep in that first quarter as well. The two-time All-Star proceeded to hit a wall in the second and third, scoring four total points in those two quarters. He only attempted five shots and shot 1-5 from the field. He stepped it up again in the final quarter, however, going off for 14 more points. Tatum shot 5-11 from the field and 2-3 from deep in the fourth. Those stats included a nasty step-back three in the clutch that kept the Celtics alive.

Despite Tatum’s hot-and-cold performance, the Celtics were not able to get the win. Their next game will come on Wednesday when they take on Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks. Tip-off is set for 7:30 PM EST on ESPN.
