The Celtics’ Bubble Chemistry

On my latest podcast with guest John Karalis (@RedsArmy_John), we talked about how important dealing with the circumstances at hand will be. There are so many new factors involved with the NBA restart, that no one really knows how each individual player will deal with it, let alone each team. While substitute players may take a couple games to get into the swing of things with their new teams, the real obstacle will be making the most out of the situation at hand.

The current position that the NBA is in is unlike anything anyone has ever seen before. There have never been circumstances quite like this in the history of professional sports, let alone the NBA. Players were asked to leave their family for months, or even weeks at a time, which is not something they should ever be asked to do.

The first set of practices are starting up now, and the Celtics stepped onto the court together yesterday for the first time in months. I know there have been individual workouts going on for a while now, but there’s nothing like practicing as a team. Obviously there has to be some form of rust with being away from the game for so long, but something tells me that that rust is going to wear off pretty quick for the Celtics.

It may not seem like much, but the video of Jaylen Brown hitting two back to back half court shots tells me a lot about this Celtics team and where their heads are at. First of all, I wanted to bring up something Tom Westerholm (@Tom_NBA) mentioned on the From the Rafters podcast a couple weeks ago. It’s that this years’ Celtics team specifically was built while keeping the individuals in mind. There seemed to be some sort of emphasis on bringing in players who are just genuinely good guys. That being said, seeing the team all together on the floor, even for that brief, unconventional moment when they were just having fun, made me confident that this Celtics team has more chemistry than any team in the NBA.

While it may not seem like much, if you have watched the Celtis at all this season, you can see how different the vibe is from last year. I just think that this team has something special. Something that separates them from the pack. Like Enes Kanter said, let’s go get banner 18.
