To the surprise of no one, Jaylen Brown is once again our Player of the Game!

It was another tough loss to the 76ers (122-110), but the shorthanded Celtics were not without bright spots. Jaylen Brown has show in back to back games that he’s capable of bringing the heat against Philly. Tasked with being the primary scorer with Kemba Walker getting back into rhythm and Jayson Tatum still ramping up for a return, Brown dropped a game high 42 points (16/28 shooting, 5/8 from deep) along with 9 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal and 1 block. Brown filled out the stat sheet while tying his career high of 42 points, which he reached earlier this season against the Grizzlies.

In my opinion, Jaylen Brown’s development and emergence this season cannot be understated. The steps he’s taken were over a course of time, and to finally see the product of all that work is incredible. With Jayson Tatum, things were accelerated with Hayward’s absence, but with Brown he’s been doing this slowly and steady, and he deserves all the praise that comes with that. Kemba Walker himself acknowledged it about a week ago:

The loss hurts, but once again Jaylen Brown is demanding the respect and status he deserves. He’s a bonafide superstar, and hopefully at full strength, Tatum and Brown will pick up right where they left off. Brown himself is on a warpath, and I’d hate to be the team to stand in his way. Boston faces off against the surging Cavaliers on Sunday at 7PM.
